READ RUTH 2
GO DEEPER
In today's passage, we witness the encompassing sovereignty of the Lord over Ruth and Naomi. What was once despair and bitterness, as depicted in Ruth 1, has been transformed by the Lord into abundance and hope. Every trial we face has been filtered through the hands of God's sovereignty (Proverbs 16:33). His sovereignty and wisdom are evident as He guides Ruth not only to the fields of Naomi's relatives but also to a potential Redeemer for them. Isn't that incredibly thoughtful?
Boaz not only allows Ruth to gather extra barley but also protects her, providing her with water and food "until she was satisfied and had some left over" (verse 14). This mirrors how the Lord interacts with us. He not only fulfills our needs but also surpasses our expectations, leaving us with an abundance of blessings. We can trust that the Lord not only provides but does so generously. He gives in a manner unique to Him, with details so creative and thoughtful that we can only attribute them to His hand. Another significant aspect of this chapter is Boaz's evident wealth. Despite having every right to claim the entirety of the harvest, he allows Ruth to glean and instructs his workers to provide her with more than what is necessary. The Lord has showered Boaz with a fertile field, numerous workers, and a plentiful harvest, prompting Boaz to be generous in return.
He recognizes that his blessings are a gift from God and willingly uses them to aid those in need. In contrast, we often hoard the blessings we receive – whether in the form of talents, resources, or finances – for selfish purposes. Boaz's example inspires us to submit our resources to the Lord's service and bless those around us. By observing Boaz's treatment of Ruth and his servants, we learn the importance of stewarding God's blessings wisely.
Let us praise God for His sovereignty, His abundant provision in our lives, and the ways in which He equips us to bless others. May we recognize His sufficiency and acknowledge His daily sustenance. Let us open our eyes to those whom the Lord has purposefully placed in our lives for us to bless with the resources entrusted to us.

2. Where do you recognize the Lord's provision in your own life?
3. In what ways has the Lord blessed you (whether through talents, finances, or giftings) to bless others? How can you practically live out this calling today, especially considering those within your sphere of influence whom you can positively impact?
