READ GENESIS 45

GO DEEPER

When we presume to predict the conclusion of a story, that is when God performs His most remarkable work. In this segment, we observe the intense pinnacle of Joseph and his brothers' saga. Years after his brothers betrayed him by selling him into slavery, they assumed they would never encounter him again. Their father Jacob had mourned for years over the absence of his beloved son. The bond between them and their brother was shattered the instant they traded him. Nonetheless, God utilized that moment as a foundation for a greater purpose.

Consider the emotions that overwhelmed Joseph during his solitary time. The accumulation of years of suffering, sadness, deceit, and uncertainty about the future all hit him at once. Now consider his brothers! They suddenly realized that the individual they wronged had the power and dominion to end their lives then and there. However, a complete reversal of events occurs. Not only does Joseph show compassion towards his brothers, but he also possesses the eternal insight to grasp how and why God permitted everything to occur!

Just as in this story, there will be instances in our lives where God allows us to construct a narrative in our minds. He permits us to develop expectations, only to surpass them with something more wonderful than we could have envisioned. Which narratives do you believe are fixed in your life? It might involve rejuvenating a seemingly irreparable relationship with a parent. You might assume that your marriage will forever be mediocre. You might feel that you will never derive satisfaction from your career. Regardless of the assumptions you have formed about your life, it does not imply that the tale has concluded.

We trust in the God depicted in Genesis 45. He is the God who desires to amaze and astonish you so you'll have a deeper reverence for who He is. He yearns to perform the unexpected so that you will be awestruck in His presence, just as Joseph's brothers were. As individuals of faith, we should remain steadfast in never relinquishing hope in a given circumstance. When God is the creator of a narrative, that story never reaches its conclusion.
