READ EXODUS 36
GO DEEPER
Throughout the majority of the book of Exodus, we observe the Israelites complaining, rebelling, and doubting God (or God's chosen leader). Therefore, it is important to take note when we witness their obedience and generosity, as it reflects our tendencies. Similar to the Israelites, we have experienced moments of disobedience, like their worship of the golden calf, as well as instances of willingly offering our most valuable possessions for a closer connection with God.
We can compare Exodus 36 to a set of instructions with which we are already familiar. It seems repetitive and uninteresting, with mundane tasks and repetitive guidance. Despite this, the Israelites are meticulously adhering to God's directives. They are diligently carrying out everything that God has asked of them. As Believers living in the 21st century, we can remember that while we may not be constructing a tabernacle for God's dwelling, we are tasked with building His church, nurturing disciples, abiding by His commands, and faithfully following Him.
Our everyday routines are usually characterized by regularity and repetition rather than by extraordinary and miraculous events. While the Israelites experienced miraculous moments such as the parting of the sea, the provision of manna, and the plagues, their daily lives were mainly defined by consistent obedience and faithfulness. Similarly, we may encounter extraordinary moments where God reveals Himself, but it is primarily in the ordinary and mundane aspects of faithful living where qualities such as courage, perseverance, love, joy, peace, and godliness are developed.
