READ JOSHUA 10

GO DEEPER

Joshua 10 exemplifies prompt obedience and strong faith. Amidst conflicts involving kings, treaties, and warfare, Joshua consistently reveals how to depend on God. Faced with enemy soldiers, the Gibeonites sought Joshua's assistance, prompting him to assemble his troops. However, prior to engaging in combat, Joshua sought guidance from God.

In verse 8, the Lord reassures Joshua not to be afraid, as He has delivered their enemies into Joshua's hands with the promise that none of them will be able to stand against him. Joshua promptly followed this command without hesitation, showing his swift obedience by getting up and going to battle. Joshua embarks on the battle with confidence, knowing that God has made the way for him. The Lord instills fear in the enemy warriors and intervenes on behalf of His people by sending down huge hailstones from the sky. God defeats the enemies and saves His people.

Despite being on the winning side, the Lord's followers were running out of time to conclude the battle due to the fading daylight. In this critical moment, Joshua implored the Lord for a miracle, demonstrating his unwavering faith in God's might. He requested additional time to secure victory in the battle. In a remarkable response, God intervened by halting the movement of the sun and moon, allowing Joshua and his army to defeat their enemies and the kings of the neighboring territories.

Many of us encounter challenges, but God does not leave us to face them alone. Despite the seeming impossibility of our situations, He can overcome any obstacle that comes our way. Just like how He supported Joshua and his people, He is actively working on our behalf by preparing the battlefield ahead of us, standing alongside us in our current struggles, and shielding us from unexpected dangers. God equips us for our battles by providing us with the necessary tools, as outlined in Ephesians 6. He does not abandon us; instead, He empowers us. Let us have unwavering faith that God is capable of achieving the impossible. If He could halt the sun in the sky, He can pave a path for you as well.
