READ JOSHUA 4

GO DEEPER

In Joshua 4, Joshua provides his people with a physical reminder to commemorate God Almighty. He instructs delegates from the 12 tribes of Israel to construct a monument using 12 stones in Gilgal. The purpose of this monument was to serve as a memory of God's intervention when He parted the Jordan River for the Israelites to enter the Promised Land. We witnessed a similar and equally remarkable event in Exodus 14 when Moses guided God's people out of Egypt via the Red Sea!

The purpose of these 12 stones was to symbolize and serve as a reminder of God's actions toward His people. It is important for us to have reminders! We may worship and give thanks to God in church on Sunday, but shortly after, we often forget and become distracted by worldly matters.

How do you ensure that you keep in mind His love for you? What strategies can you employ to keep the memory of God's love alive amidst the busy chaos of life filled with work, children, social responsibilities, a partner, and many other things? We require these prompts in our lives, and it is part of God's plan for us to utilize such reminders to impart truth to the upcoming generation. It is alarming how swiftly we tend to forget God's teachings and the blessings He has bestowed upon us. The task at hand now is to discover a single, straightforward method to REMEMBER God's love for us.

As followers of Jesus Christ, it is important for us to find opportunities to inform others about the identity of the Lord and the ways that He has impacted our lives. Whether it involves recounting and sharing our personal faith journey, spreading the message of the Gospel, or symbolically creating a reminder of His interventions, we should seek ways to commemorate His acts on our behalf. It is our privilege and responsibility to educate our offspring, the future generation, and a world that may be adrift about the teachings of the Lord. Failure to do so may result in them straying from the gospel truths and succumbing to worldly influences. Therefore, take a moment today to reflect on and communicate to others the wondrous deeds of God.
